Metro Programs and Initiatives

Nuns Build / St. Bernard Project

Every November, Catholic Sisters from across the country, along with their friends and family members, come to the New Orleans Metropolitan area for Nun’s Build to rebuild the homes and lives of Katrina survivors.

Local Knights of Columbus Councils host dinners for the sisters and volunteers, as well as providing and delivering lunches to them at the worksites. We sponsor, fund and coordinate these events and meals.

Keep Christ in Christmas

Ever year, we sponsor a Keep Christ in Christmas billboard and actively promote this campaign.

Over 60 billboards were erected in the area, including the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany and St. Bernard and also in Ponchatoula and Hammond.

Dining for the Seminarians

We host fundraisers in conjunction with the cooperation of local restaurants to raise money to purchase of the Books of the Gospel for seminarians in the New Orleans Archdiocese.

Participating restaurants will donate a portion of your bill to this program.

Knights of Columbus Mass

In association with Columbus Day, we plan and schedule a metro-wide Mass honoring all Knights of Columbus.

Memorials to the Unborn

We have erected memorials in many parishes of the Diocese to pay tribute to the millions of children killed by abortion.
